- Authored by Abdullah with actionable, zero-fluff implementation guidance.
- Verified for immediate practical application, production workflows, and professional skill enhancement.
The Official Business Account tick on WhatsApp is granted for how well known your brand is, not for how much you spend. If independent press has not written about your company, no agency, no consultant and no self described "Meta partner" can get you one, and anyone quoting you a price for a guaranteed green tick is selling something they cannot deliver.
That is the short version. The longer version is more useful, because the thing most businesses actually want from the tick, which is a name and a logo in the chat window instead of an unknown number, comes from a completely different process that is achievable and is mostly paperwork.

Three different things people call "verified"
Most of the confusion in this market comes from one word covering three separate systems. They have different requirements and different outcomes.
| What it is | How you get it | What a customer sees |
|---|---|---|
| Official Business Account, the green tick | Meta grants it on brand notability. You apply, you do not buy | A green badge next to your business name |
| Business verification in Meta Business Manager | Submit legal documents proving the company exists. Approval is procedural, not editorial | Your business name in the chat header even when the number is not saved, though Meta has changed this behaviour more than once |
| Meta Verified, the paid subscription | A monthly fee, where Meta offers it | A badge, plus support and account protection features |
The middle row is the one that changes your day to day results, and it is the one almost nobody in Pakistan is selling, because it does not sound impressive.
Meta Verified deserves a warning. It is a genuine paid product, it has been rolling out country by country, and its coverage across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook has changed more than once. Some sellers now use its existence to imply the green tick is purchasable. Check Meta's official Official Business Account verification guidelines for current requirements before accepting anyone's third-party promises.
What Meta means by notable
Meta's published criteria are deliberately vague, and that vagueness is not an accident. If the bar were written down precisely, it would be gamed within a week.
The durable principle, which has held for years, is this: a reviewer should be able to search your brand name and find that other people, with no commercial relationship to you, have written about it. Not that you exist. Not that you have customers. That you are talked about.
This is why a large and profitable business can be refused while a smaller one is approved. A distributor doing serious revenue through relationships and no public profile has nothing for a reviewer to find. A consumer app with a modest user base that got written up in the national press does.
Evidence that has a chance
Sorted roughly by how much weight it tends to carry.
- A news story about your company in a national outlet, written by that outlet's own staff, in its editorial pages.
- Sustained coverage rather than one article. Several independent mentions over time read differently to a single hit.
- Coverage that is about you, not a list you appear in and not a quote from your CEO in a story about something else.
- International or trade press where the outlet is clearly independent.
Evidence that will not help
- Paid placements, sponsored supplements and advertorials. Pakistani newspapers run these openly. Reviewers can usually recognise the format, and submitting one signals that you had to pay for attention.
- Press release syndication. A release you wrote, republished across sites that republish everything, is your own voice repeated.
- Directory listings, award sites that charge an entry fee, and "top 10 companies" articles you did not have to earn a place in.
- Your own website, blog, YouTube channel or social following. Follower counts are not notability. A large audience you built yourself is exactly what Meta is not measuring here.
- Client logos and testimonials. Useful on your site, irrelevant to this decision.
Why applications get rejected
The reasons that come up again and again:
- Applying before business verification is finished. The tick is reviewed on an account that Meta already recognises as a legitimate business. Do the boring step first.
- A display name that is not the brand. Generic names, keyword stuffed names and names that do not match your registered business or your website tend to cause problems. The name people know you by and the name on your paperwork should be recognisably the same thing.
- Nothing to find. No independent coverage exists, so there is no decision for a reviewer to make. This is the real answer behind a lot of refusals.
- Reapplying immediately. Firing off applications after a refusal does not improve the odds and wastes the wait.
- Applying with the wrong setup. The tick has historically been tied to the WhatsApp Business Platform, the API product, rather than the free WhatsApp Business app. Confirm the current position in Meta's documentation before you plan around it.
None of this has a published appeals process worth relying on. If you are refused, the honest advice is to go and become the kind of company that gets written about, then try again later.
The Pakistan specific part
Business verification, the achievable one, is a document exercise. Meta wants to see that a legal entity exists and that you control it. For a company registered here that usually means the SECP incorporation certificate, an NTN certificate from FBR, and a supporting document such as a utility bill or bank letter in the business name. Meta also looks at your web presence, and a business email on your own domain removes an obvious friction point.
The businesses that struggle are sole proprietorships operating on an NTN alone with no incorporation document, and companies whose registered name is nothing like their trading name. Both are fixable, but they are fixed at SECP and FBR, not in a support ticket. Meta's accepted document list changes, so check the current one rather than assembling a folder from a blog post, including this one.
What you get without the tick
This is the part that should change your decision. With business verification complete and a WhatsApp Business Platform number running, a customer who has never saved your number still sees your business name and profile picture in the chat header, your catalogue and profile are populated, and your messages arrive through a channel Meta treats as legitimate. Meta has changed how an unsaved contact sees a business name more than once, so confirm what the current Platform documentation says before you plan around it.
The tick adds a small green badge. It does not improve delivery, it does not raise messaging limits, it does not make template approval easier, and it does not affect what you are allowed to send. It is a trust signal, and it is a good one, but the gap between a verified business profile and a verified business profile with a badge is far smaller than the gap between an unknown mobile number and either of them.
If your goal is customers trusting the conversation, you can get most of the way there this quarter with paperwork.
What we will not do
We build and run WhatsApp and Instagram automation under Your Bot, which means we set up the Platform account, handle the verification paperwork and build what runs on top of it. We cannot get you the Official Business Account tick, because nobody can sell it. What we will do is tell you honestly whether your business has any realistic chance before you spend time on an application, and in most cases the answer is not yet.
If someone has quoted you a fixed price with a guaranteed outcome, ask them what happens to your money when Meta says no. The answer to that question tells you everything.
Notability is earned outside Meta's systems. It comes from doing something a journalist wants to write about without being paid, which is a slower and less comfortable project than filling in a form. If that is the road you want to take, our free digital marketing course covers the earned side of it, and our custom software work is often what makes a company worth writing about in the first place.
If you want the verified business profile and the automation without the badge theatre, Your Bot is where that lives, and our contact form reaches a person who will tell you if it is not worth it.

No. Meta’s editorial team directly decides whether to grant the Official Business Account (OBA) badge based on independent brand notability. Any agency claiming 100% guaranteed green ticks is misleading clients.
You need an official SECP Certificate of Incorporation (or registered Partnership Deed / NTN Form 181), an active FBR tax certificate, a corporate utility bill or official bank maintenance letter matching the legal name and address, and an active business email on your domain.
Meta Business Verification proves your business is a legitimate legal entity and displays your verified business name to customers. The Green Tick (OBA) is a special prestige checkmark reserved for prominent, heavily covered national and global brands.
Meta Business Manager document verification typically takes between 2 and 7 business days. Once verified, applying for an Official Business Account takes an additional 2 to 4 business days for Meta’s editorial review.
